Volkswagen Jetta And Scion Tc Engines

When comparing Scion engines to Volkswagen Engines, it is plain to see that both the VW engine and Scion models have been designed to be efficient, reliable, and powerful engines for economy and compact sized frames. The two specific models we will be looking to compare today are the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and the 2011 Scion Tc.


Scion engines have many similar qualities to VW engine design. Scions current 2011 tC engines are documented as 2.4 liter with 162 horsepower, redlining at 6000 rpm, and running 0-60 in around 8.4 seconds (varying on options installed). Optimized for automatic transmission, this engine gets 21mpg in city and 24mpg on highway travel.


The Volkswagen engines put into the 2011 VW Jetta are a 2.5 liter with 170 horsepower, running 0-60 in roughly 8.2 seconds, redlining at 5700 rpm, taking 14.5 gal of standard fuel this VW engine gets 23mpg in the city and 30mpg on highway travel. These specifications between Volkswagen engines and Scion engines are very similar with close to the same performance reviews.

Compared to Scion engines which puts out 162 lbs-ft of torque, the VW engine maintains the upper-hand.


When looking to compare Volkswagen engines with Scion engines, you will notice the Scion tC is estimated to average $18,995. When paying for the performance of the VW engine, you can expect to drop about $16,500 for a stock edition, and more depending on options. These prices do not take into account the used tC and Jetta models of 2008 and 2009, which can be said to cost a substantially lesser amount.


Volkswagen engines and Scion engines differ when it comes to legacy and renown. If looking for a more sleek body design, it can be said that the Scion tC is a more futuristic and sleek looking coupe while The VW Jetta is a four-door option that contains more headroom and would be more suitable for families.


Overall Volkswagen engines are more reliable while Scion engines are more readily customized. As both are reliable and stylish, it really comes down to preference. The VW engine is a legacy, and the Scion engines, in comparison are fairly new.
