Knight Rider first made its appearance 26 years ago, in the form of an action series. It gained instant popularity due to the entirely new concept of a talking car. This concept was quite outrageous at that time. If you watch Knight Rider of that era, you will find David Hasselhoff behind the wheels of KITT. Knight Rider ran successfully for four years. Recently, the great show of yester years was converted into a movie. The movie starred Justin Bruening, who acted as the son of Michael Knight played by Hasselhoff in the series. The movie was also an instant hit, as it drew 12.7 million viewers. This made Gary Scott Thompson create a spin-off series of the movie. But he was aware of the fact that talking cars would no longer hold the interest of the new generation, as the concept has been used many times. If you watch Knight Rider online, you will find that Thompson had introduced a completely spectacular KITT, with latest techno savvy features. The new KITT was made from a sporty, black Ford Mustang. The car was completely computerized and some modifications related to tuning and suspensions were made. The car was created by Ray Claridge, and his team of Cinema Vehicles. The company specializes in creating cars for movies and TV shows. The car was designed as per the specifications given by artist Harald Belker. If you watch Knight Rider, you will find that features like mirror lights, heartbeat lighting, strip lights and a rear spoiler with lighting were added to the new KITT. Claridge has created six KITT cars, out of which four are the exact replica of the hero version, while the remaining two are attack vehicles and mainly used for stunts. The producers wanted as many practical effects as possible, but the budget and time limitations acted as the main hindrances. So, the mechanical special effects have been transferred to CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). If you watch Knight Rider online, the transformation of KITT from a normal car to a super car, has been superbly done by CGI. The new KITT also boasts of computer effects. There is a touch screen fitted across the windshield, which enables downloading objects and viewing 3D objects. KITT also comes under satellite surveillance, through which anything or any person can be located anywhere in the world. KITT works logically and is far superior to most humans. If you watch Knight Rider, you will find that KITT’s voice is not mechanized, but belongs to an actor, Val Kilmer. Hence, Knight Rider series have become immensely likeable due to the reinvention of KITT.
