Water Damage Prevention From Moisture

By: Aydan Corkern Home | Self-Improvement

There are two main places in your home that you might see a lot of problems with moisture damages. These two places are the kitchen and the bathroom. As we all know, we do a lot of cooking in the kitchen. With all of this cooking will come a lot of moisture. The moisture will show up from the steam that is coming from all of the pans that you are using at the time. The other room of your home that will have a lot of moisture or steam will be the bathroom. We use our bathrooms more than we used to. It used to be a place where you took your bath and left. Now we have bigger bathrooms with showers or larger tubs that we might be in for a while.

All of this steam will settle on the walls of these rooms. You might want to paint them with water proof paint. This way the water will just run down the walls. You might want to install materials that can withstand a lot of moisture. With the bathrooms of today, you have bigger shower heads that send out several streams of water at the same time. This will have the water landing on a lot more surfaces. Even the best materials can become ruined if this moisture should find it way underneath. The best thing to put in these rooms are ceiling ventilation fans and having one over your stove as well..

These fans will pull the moisture up and out of these rooms. They will also help in keeping your fixtures dry. These fans will also help with keeping you from have large expensive repairs. You will want to make sure that this fan will do an adequate job because if it does not, you will end up with moisture or water damages. You will want to buy one that is quiet so that you really do not know it is running. You will also need to measure your bathroom so that you get one appropriate for the size of your room.

If you have an exhaust fan in your bathroom or over your stove, use them. If you do not, it is like not having one. They are there for the sole purpose of helping with the removal of excess moisture. Try to keep these fans clean so that they are working right. You should probably do this at least once every few months. They might become clogged from all of the lint and dirt that can be flying around your home. The fan in the kitchen can get grease build up too.
