Waxing Is A Safe Method Of Hair Removal For Time Conscious People

By: Martha Fitzharris Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

The thought of waxing a body part can sometimes make people wince. Women who are familiar with the procedure know full well the feeling of having the wax removed from a body part; it is forever ingrained after the first pull. Why do people go through with such a painful hair removal procedure? Time is the biggest factor. Waxing removes hair for up to a month at a time which is highly desirable for people on the move. 10 minutes of discomfort is nothing when you take into account the advantages of not shaving or plucking every day.

Waxing is a fairly simple hair removal procedure. It involves spreading hot wax over the part of the body you want hair removed from. A strip of cloth is then placed over the area and allowed to connect itself to the cooling wax. Once the wax has reached the right temperature, the cloth is pulled off in a quick motion, taking with it the wax, hair, and root all at the same time.

Hot wax feels a little uncomfortable when it is applied but ask anyone who has gone through the procedure and they will tell you the hair extraction is the painful part of the action. Grown men who commonly wax their backs or chests will tell you of the intense discomfort associated with having a hair pulled out from the root. Women who frequent the beach during the summer months or who exercise regularly in skimpy clothing will tell you too of the discomfort associated with removing pubic hairs from the root. Why do people go through this pain? Is there an easier way to remove excess body hair?

The biggest advantage to waxing is the time it takes for the hair to grow back. Normally it takes hairs from 4 to 8 weeks to return to the point where you need to repeat the process. When the hairs grow back in, they are normally softer and finer than before. Repeated waxing might eventually make the hairs so fine and soft that they never grow back in. This does not happen always but can be a huge selling point. Women might spend 5 minutes a day shaving their legs which is about 30 minutes a week. Imagine telling a person they could save 2 hours a month in the bathroom by going through this procedure. It is a no brainer for some people who are very busy. Shaving every day can be a hassle for many people, it takes time and patience to shave every morning. Waxing provides a safe alternative to daily shaving habits and any other method used to remove hair.

Sugaring is a newer form of form of hair removal that is very similar to waxing. The substance used to remove the wax in this instance is a sugar mixture close to the texture of a caramel like sauce. The benefit is that it is easier to clean up than regular wax. A little water on the area where the hair was removed and its clean.

There are some negative side effects associated with waxing. Ingrown hairs, red bumps, rashes, and in some cases bleeding can occur after the procedure. This is more common among hairy men who go through the procedure since their strands are generally thicker and stronger. Short hair is easier to remove considering its proximity to the root. The first few procedures may produce the most skin issues but continued waxing will lead to softer and finer hair which should decrease the side effects.

Women might feel embarrassed going to a hair salon and having their private region waxed. Women need to assess this feeling themselves and decide on a regular waxing technician that they feel comfortable with if this is an issue. Home beauty supplies do sell some products that remove hair using wax. Home kits are cheaper than a salon appointment but the margin of error and the chances of developing skin related issues are higher when the removal process is not done by a professional.

Lastly, the price of waxing can be a deterrent to some. Select body waxes can cost upwards of fifty dollars which will make most people think twice. It might boil down to how valuable people consider there time to be.

Waxing as a whole is a safe alternative to shaving or plucking. Each person might have his or her own reason for choosing this procedure but as a whole, time will be the biggest factor in the decision. Most people who go through with this process crave the once per month hair treatment removal process over shaving daily.
