Ways To Monitor Your Property

By: Michael Home | Home-and-Family | Home-Improvement

These days, we all live busy lives and do not necessarily have the time to stay at home. In fact, research has shown that most people tend to work two jobs and home owners tend to be on the go for over 40 hours a week. This basically means that you are out of the home 8 hours a day and leave your home vulnerable to burglars and thieves who can break in easily if there are no security installations or remote monitoring.

To prevent this, you can set up remote monitoring so that wherever you are, you can relax knowing that a security firm is monitoring your property 24/7, and you can also monitor activities at home on your PC. Here are the things you would need to install for effective remote asset monitoring.

1. Video Security Systems

These are security systems designed to monitor, log and record events that are happening at your home or on your property all the time. These often contain security cameras, video management systems, wiring, and high quality viewing.

In choosing cameras, you have two choices -the analogue and the digital or IP cameras. Usually, IP cameras are mostly chosen by home owners and preferred by security outfits as the number of cams required for installation are usually fewer and more effective. These cams often have wider coverage and high quality resolutions.

2. Hire a Security Firm

Often times, these remote monitoring systems can only be installed by highly skilled security experts who will visit your home or the specified property to install the security system. Specifying your requirements can also help facilitate installation and customization.

For example, you could have them configure the cameras and monitoring equipments to not just on the alert for break-ins, but also for things increased humidity, broken pipes etc.

3. Environmental Monitoring

Not only can the property be secured from inside but you can install environmental monitoring systems that will record and monitor all events happening in the immediate vicinity. Of course, this is restricted to just a certain range as making it unlimited could result in people taking undue advantage of it to spy on their neighbours.

An environmental monitoring system can be configured to show you any and all the things happening at the specified location. Unlike the video security systems only, this is more extensive as you will have to install a variety of gadgets, such as, a water sensor system that immediately notifies the owner of a broken pipe or flooding in the home, a heat sensor system that calls the owner when there is a suspected increase in heat generation and so on.

4. Night Vision Equipments

These are monitoring equipments pre-fitted with infra red lights which can make the night seem brighter. With this, even if the environment is in complete darkness, all activity will be recorded as if it were twilight or clear evening. Hence, affording you the opportunity to be able to identify burglars and thieves at night.
