With the cost of getting married increasing each year it's never been more important to make sure that whatever money you spend does not go to waste. Experts estimate the cost of a wedding today at between 15,000 pounds and 20,000 pounds with a considerable portion of that going towards a suitable venue. In fact wedding venues are now one of the most important considerations for many couples who want their special day to be as special as possible. Wedding venues are probably the single most expensive item on the list of things to do or arrange for a wedding. With this in mind it is worth taking a moment to consider what you want from a venue and what you can do to get the most from the venue you choose to go with. Many wedding venues advertise all year round, not just for weddings, but for conferences and functions as well. If you are going for an expensive venue it may be worthwhile asking about special rates. The price of a venue can be lowered significantly in some cases because of demand, time of year and number of people attending. With more and more places applying for and being granted permission to double as wedding venues the competition is also benefitting couples looking for wedding venues and more venues are now offering good package deals. There are a few points to remember when looking for a venue. 1. Ask for a discount or special rate - Many venues will be able to discount the cost based on when you want to book or how many people you will have at the ceremony. It is worth asking lots of questions as there is usually an area or aspect on which you can save some money. 2. Can the venue provide you with anything that hasn't been advertised? Wedding venues are now no longer consigned to hotels and register offices. As a result an unusual or quirky venue might be able to offer something special that they haven't openly advertised. There may be special rooms or locations for photographs. 3. Will there be any limitations to the venue? Opening and closing times? Capacity? - Remember that the venue is supposed to fit in with your need and not the other way around. Make your needs clear and make sure everything is agreed before making any commitment. Very often even the most expensive and glamorous looking venue will not entirely live up to your vision of the big day. If you opt for a cheaper venue you could use some of the money you have saved to decorate the room and transform it to reflect your vision. Wedding venues can be easily transformed on a small budget with novelty lights, decorations and even themes. The trick is to see past the space and put your stamp on it. With this in mind it is worth considering some smaller or cheaper venues and, using a little imagination, you can do wonders. Here are three areas worth considering. Village Halls - Many community halls, church halls and village halls are now seeing the wedding venue market as a good way to generate revenue and connect with their communities. These are good options for weddings on a budget and are often open to ideas about temporary interior design and decoration. Golf, Rugby, Football Clubs - Many sports clubs have buildings that are not used all year round. These empty spaces are increasingly being advertised as function spaces for everything from conferences and weddings to team building days. Hotels - There are many advantages to considering a hotel as your wedding venue. Whether you have a large budget or a small budget there will be a hotel to suit. Most hotels also offer food and drink as well and so there is the opportunity to negotiate an 'all in' deal where the hotel offers a discounted price to include the catering as well.
