Staying active in their communities has been a mission of corporations from the very beginning of business. Beyond the fact that the measures help promote the people that buy their products, giving back to the community helps position companies as socially responsible cornerstones of the everyday lives of consumers. Let’s be honest; a business’ primary goal is to make money, so there has to be something to offset the illusion of corporate greed. That’s where community activism comes into play as a traditional practice of a lot of companies. For West Palm Beach Subaru Legacy drivers, community activism is no new thing. In fact, Subaru has a long history of giving back, and the manufacturer continues this legacy into the new decade. West Palm used Subaru drivers can hang their hats on influential corporate events like this year’s Share the Love event, in its second year of existence. The Share the Love of event gives back to the community by promoting charities like the Boys and Girls Club of America, Habitat for Humanity International, Meals on Wheels Association of America, the National Wildlife Federation and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Subaru of America Senior Vice President and CMO Tim Mahoney had this to say: â€Last year we created the Share the Love program to help charities and give back to the community. Thanks to our customers, we donated $4.6 million to those organizations. We are continuing the program this year not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because it is part of our culture as an organization to support causes important to our customers.†This semi-new event comes fast on the heels of an Indiana Subaru dealer’s own efforts to promote community activism †actions in which you might see West Palm Beach Subaru Legacy dealers taking part in the near future. Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) just finished hosting the second annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, held on the SIA grounds in Lafayette, IN on October 10, 2009. The 5K walk was instrumental in raising $23,693.05 in the fight against breast cancer, a number that West Palm Beach used Legacy dealers can surely match. Community activists in the area should feel free to approach your local dealership to find out how they can contribute. After the success of the 5K walk for breast cancer, we expect that the Share the Love event will be more than successful. For West Palm used Subaru dealers, the Share the Love event is simply another feather in the cap of an industry leading automaker bent on making a name for itself among the extensive entropy of the contemporary automotive industry. West Palm Beach used Legacy dealers take pride in their brand, as well they should, and Subaru drivers should too. After all, in an industry that recently came under fire for reckless and greedy actions, it is a breath of fresh air to find an automaker that still has a nose for social responsibility.
