By: Elizabeth Crosthon Home | Shopping-and-Products

With the delivery of flowers available almost all of the world you can use flowers to celebrate life's victories as well as sympathize with the sorrows of life.

Or course, most people view flowers as objects of beauty. Their intoxicating scents can carry you away. But were you aware that flowers are a way to communicate to the sender that which cannot be expressed in words? The art of sending that flowers with hidden meanings goes back to ancient times but it gained real popularity during England's Victorian period.

In days when people were more formal they used flowers, such as posies, to convey thoughts more thoroughly then using the written or spoken word. There were detailed lists of what each flower meant, both alone and combined with other flowers. Some of the meanings are still followed today.

Almost anyone will recognize red roses are nature's symbolic manifestation of genuine love but what do other colors mean? Having pink roses delivered early in a relationship can mean romance and or genuine infatuation while not seeming inappropriate. Pink roses also convey friendship and kinship with most people especially if they are your elder in age.

Pink roses have been around for quite a long time, and they are a natural hybridization of the red and white roses. Pink roses come in a large multitude of shades from the slightest rosy blush, to almost red deep pink. The more delicate shades of the pink rose are symbolic of innocence, and are especially well suited to children.

The color of a rose usually carries a specific meaning. Whites roses used to symbolize pure love instead of the red rose, but that has changed to something entirely different over the years. Now white roses tend to signify a purity, innocence or virtuous unity for marriages.

Sending flowers is a long time tradition that nearly always thrills the recipient. Your florist now has available a list of color and flower meanings so that you can send truly express the heart felt emotions behind the gift.
