What Everyone Should Know About Italian Kitchens

By: Shaun Parker Home |

The Kitchen has always been the heart of the home. Although the kitchen is often very different in different cultures it shares the common role of being the room in the house where people prepare food. Many kitchens also offer the duel function of providing a space where food can be consumed and the kitchen is increasingly becoming the most important room in the house from which to socialise.

Many modern kitchens are designed to provide a space for entertaining guests and as a result there is a strong emphasis on style as well as function. This means that many modern kitchens are both stylish and they offer a full complement of appliances that make cooking easier. Modern kitchens have reached a level of sophistication that has been previously unmatched. They have incorporated sophisticated pieces of kitchen equipment that ordinarily would not have been used in a domestic situation but would instead have been found in a commercial kitchen.

Kitchens in the affluent areas of the world such as the UK have three core components. An area for storage of food, an area for cleaning the food and preparing the food and an area where the food is cooked. These three areas are often referred to as the kitchen triangle and kitchen that are well planned arrange these three areas in such a way that they create a triangle. This is in preference to placing all of these areas in a line. The reason for this is that it encourages a smooth movement between different areas of the kitchen.

These three main areas are typically represented by appliances. The food storage area is usually the fridge, the area where the food is cooked is the oven or stove and the area where food is prepared and cleaned is the work surface and sink. So a good kitchen design should place the fridge, oven and sink in a triangle shape. This will make the area much easier to use and will make for a good flow of movement through the kitchen thus making cooking easier.

The cooking area of the kitchen usually comprises of a method of cooking food. As mentioned this is typically an oven. In modern kitchens this also includes appliances such as a microwave and a toaster. In many modern kitchens it is also the case that the oven and the stove are separated. This means that they can be placed separately from one another. In many modern kitchens this provides a much more efficient use of space. Many modern kitchens include a dishwasher as well as a sink. This enables them to keep the kitchen clean and tidy without having to manually wash up.

The storage section of the kitchen is usually the fridge and a few cupboards to store food items that will not perish at room temperature. The fridge usually also has a freezer section that is designed to keep the items that can be stored over a long period of time frozen for later use.

Many kitchens that are produced today also include a facility for cleaning clothes and the kitchen can also operate as the utility room for a house. This means that many kitchens also have a washing machine and occasionally a dryer. This means that the kitchen is the hub for all household chores.

Designing the kitchen to meet all of these requirements and also making the kitchen aesthetically pleasing is not an easy task and kitchen designers that can appease these two aims are extremely skilled individuals. With most families using their kitchens as the primary place in their homes making sure your kitchen is both functional and that it looks good is essential; especially if you are looking to sell your house on in the near future.
