Although many people have not yet heard of a "corporate IM client", the safety and security it provides definitely makes it the future of instant messaging. It is a hosted program used for workplace or secure communication between co-workers, friends, clients, and family. In most cases, the program is exactly like a public instant messaging program (like AIM or Yahoo! Messenger), but only operates on a local or secure, private network on a server. All data is secure and authorized and users are offered more privacy. A corporate IM client is a great tool for employees and supervisors to send files, ask questions, and communicate effectively, all without leaving their desks. Employees can communicate with one another if they are across the hall or across the country from one another! There are many highlights that come with using a secure communication platform: 1.) Secure File Transfers: any files that are transferred between two parties are completely confidential and cannot be hacked into and stolen by anyone that the file was not sent to. 2.) Encrypted Data: the conversations that are had through a corporate IM client are all highly encrypted in order to protect any private information that may be shared. 3.) Administrator Privileges: Many corporate IM clients allow an administrator to have complete access to all user's profiles in their private IM network. In some cases, administrators can view chat conversations, delete and modify user profiles, and only allow some users the use of certain tools. 4.) Collaborative Tools: Many clients offer several different tools that can increase efficiency in the workplace, along with increased communication. Some of these tools include video and voice chat, group chat rooms, and whiteboards, which is a collaborative "drawing board" tool, much like Microsoft Paint. 5.) Peace of mind: Most importantly, a corporate IM client provides the peace of mind that most heads of companies and organizations desire.
