What Is Irregular Menstruation Period?

At the doctor's we answer questions all the time about irregular periods. A textbook period happens every 20-29 days and but in truth what is â€regular†cover a wide range. Cycles between 25â€35 days are very common. A female may get her period only one to four times a year. Or she might have periods that occur two to three times in a month and involve spot or extremely heavy flow. Alternatively, she may have heavy episodes of bleeding every two to three months. Irregular periods are simply what irregular menstruation for you is.

Symptoms of irregular menstruation: -

* Pain in pelvic region or in lower abdomen
* Anemia
* Discomfort in lower back
* Nausea and vomiting sensation
* Vertigo and dizziness might occur
* Depression might occur
* Decreased appetite
* Dullness on skin

Causes of irregular menstruation: -

Cortical has a direct impact on the sex hormones estrogen, progesterone. Eating disorders, dieting, drug use, and reliance on stimulants like caffeine and alcohol are also interpreted by the body as kinds of stress. Poor nutrition seems to physically change the proteins in the brain so they can no longer send the proper signals for normal ovulation. There are lot many causes, which can interfere with the regularity of the menstrual periods. Some of the important factors are described below.

Diet: - A poor diet causing severe weight loss or gain also affects the hormones. People who are bulimic or anorexic also have irregular periods.

Exercise: - Intense or heavy exercises can make the body weak. This also causes the menstrual cycle to be irregular. Carrying heavy load and lifting the objects that is out of one’s strength may cause the pain and irregularity in menstrual cycle and so the flow.

Drug: - Drug use like steroids or blood thinners is another cause of an irregular cycle.

Hormonal birth control: - Many times, birth control pills and irregular periods of menstrual cycle go hand in hand. Woman’s body takes a while to adjust to the newer levels of hormones those are delivered by the hormonal birth control pills as a supplement.

Illness: - Illness like endometrial cancer, an ovulation, endometrial polyps and endometrial hyperplasia is another cause.

Stress: - Latest researches now fully agree with the stress, being one of the major affecting factors for irregular menstruation. If the woman is worried, stressful, having anxiety or depression, she may miss the menstrual flow or may end up with profuse bleeding.
Lactation: - It plays major role in menstruation. The cycle gets disturbed when one has lactation period. In majority of the cases, the menstrual cycle disappears during lactation.

Advice for irregular menstruation: -

* Sedentary life style should be avoided.
* Proper balanced diet should be taken.
* Proper rest should be taken.
* Avoid sleeping in day time.
* Shed of extra weight.
* Spicy and heavy food should totally be avoided.
* Morning evening walk should be regularized.
* Proper sleep of about 6-8 hours is very essential.
