What Makes An Acne Product Effective?

By: IC Home | Health-and-Fitness | Acne

There are many acne related products in the market, some of them promise to target a specific problem such as redness of the skin, others target the inflammation around the pimple, other products have been made in order to target the infection and finally others target multiple issues. Knowing which acne product to use will help you win the battle against the awkward looks at this skin condition can create. There are several factors that you need to take in consideration when buying an acne product, let's go ahead and take a look at some of them.

Skin Type

This is not a myth, the product that works for someone may not work for you because there are many skin types (just as there are many skin colors), some people to skin tend to produce a lot of oil and moisture which tends to be a problem if there is some sort of irritation triggered by infections or other problems created by Acne. Some creams tend to moisturize the area where it is applied this might not be a good idea for someone who already has oily skin just like it would be a bad idea for someone to use a product which was intended to decrease the amount of moisture if that person already has dry skin.

Product Ingredients

Another important point you must be aware of is the number of ingredients which are active and will help you out to fight against Acne, one of the main ingredients which helps fight this skin condition is called benzoyl peroxide, this is an antibacterial agent which is known to target problems caused by acne. A few other effective ingredients are: the hydroxy acid and astringents which can be used to remove dirt and oil from the skin.

Acne Severity

Yet another important factor that you must consider when you buy one of these products is how bad your problem really is, some people tend to buy more than they need in order to fight a small problem for instance, teenagers may go wild when it comes to fighting a very small and sometimes nearly invisible pimple, applying products which have a very strong gradients can make things worse instead of solving the problem, the same can be said of people who use over-the-counter acne creams in order to fight severe redness caused by chronic Acne, in this last case it is strongly recommended to consult your dermatologist.
