What Makes The Smoothest Coffee?

What is the smoothest coffee will always generate a discussion as one person might thing that Kona makes a smooth coffee and another person thinks that only blends of coffee beans makes smooth coffee. For some people, the smoothest coffee is a result of the way the green coffee beans are roasted. They feel that if the green beans have been slow roasted then as the beans reach a higher temperature the sugar is more developed. Also coffee people will insist that you should only purchase a small amount of fresh roasted beans at any one time as the roasted beans are at their best for about two weeks after roasting. But the flavor peaks after a couple of days.

Air, moisture, heat and light are the culprits that destroy coffee beans. When you bring home your coffee beans and want to make that smoothest cup of coffee you will need to store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry and dark place. Also when you are brewing your coffee you will not want to use a machine that boils the water. The best temperature for making coffee or brewing coffee is between 195 †205 degrees Fahrenheit which is just below boiling point. But depending on where you area reading this it this ideal temperature may vary from 195 †208 or somewhere in between. But if you are like most people who drink coffee one degree or so will not make the coffee taste better or worse unless you have spend a great deal of time taste testing between the different brewing temperatures.

The water heat point will matter if the water is too hot or too cold. If the coffee water boils the coffee will become bitter and the coffee is called over extracted or there has been too much taken out of the beans. This will take out too much of the oils and the flavor too and there will a loss of quality and the beverage will be too acidic and bitter. If the coffee water is too cold then it is considered to be under extracted. This means that not enough was taken out of the coffee grounds like caffeine and the taste will be flat. Generally drip coffee brewing machines have a thermostat within the unit that regulates the brewing temperature. Some people believe that an electric drip coffee maker will never reach the perfect temperature to brew good coffee. But again unless you are a coffee taster by profession you probably will not notice the difference very much.

If you are taking about the best, smooth and finest cup of coffee you have to take into consideration the water brewing temperature, the amount of time the grounds stay or steep in the hot water, the coffee grounds to water ratio, they type of equipment used to brew the coffee, when the coffee beans were roasted and when the coffee beans were ground. There are so many good coffee beans it is easy to choose good coffee.
