The best comedies are comedies that tell us the truth about ourselves. The funniest comedic situations mirror an authentic part of ourselves we often try to hide. Because comedians highlight the most quirky and unique traits of the way we look, and communicate, the best comedians usually are expert mimics or impersonators. The reason impersonations are humorous is because they are not that far from the truth. The zany caricatures exaggerate and mimic the way we really do communicate or express ourselves, even if we may not want to admit it! Comedy restores a sensible and balanced view of ourselves and our human condition. A hearty balanced view of yourself allows you to be more authentic. It is inferred that the common denominator between the human race is our struggle and need to overcome life unexpectances, foibles and disappointments. The recognition that our predicament is not that different from our neighbors just may be the gift that comedy shares with us. That recognition is sometimes all that is needed to maintain our resolve to continue on and see ourselves in harmony with everyone else, instead of the isolation that often accompanies such a negative view that we are alone in our hardship. Comedies help us to remember, our that lives are not all that dissimilar. The absurdities unrealistically portrayed in comedy shows often unmask inherent truths about our own circumstance. The comedies that are the most humorous bear stark resemblance to our own lives as we contemplate our daily frustrations. Bugs Bunny, a widely known US cartoon personification of a wily carrot chomping rabbit, is popular because of the various funny and creative ways he escapes determined hunter and archenemy, Elmer Fudd. Sometimes the circumstances seem nearly impossible as Bugs, narrowly thwarts the silly hunter, who always falls into the traps set by the plucky rabbit. He has remained a famous comedic relief for generations because of what he symbolizes. Bugs Bunny symbolize our own need to come out on top of our common struggle with life circumstances that seem to constantly chase us. The message is clear. Even if not literally, what is fundamentally communicated is that there is no problem that we cannot overcome. If we can identify with the comical and inventive rabbit that maneuvers his way out of every situation, we understand on some level, that we also can triumph in our daily demands. It is the ability to actually picture victory, and see our way through the situation before it happens. The best comedies almost always mirror our true selves, curd stressors and help our capacity to see beyond the present challenging circumstance. They can aid our ability to have a balanced view of our lives and recognize that we are united in our attempts to survive and thrive.
