What You Should Know About Canine Clicker Training

By: Anthony Jansen Home | Home-and-Family | Pets

One of the fastest dog training techniques which is common to everybody now is canine clicker training.

A clicker is like a plastic box device, with a metal strap, when pressed will emit a click" sound.

This method of training is actually a very gentle reward based training technique. This method of training also is associated and is enforced by a very positive manner and attitude, resulting in a mutual respect between master and dog.

So how does canine clicker training works?

Each time you train your dog and wish to reward your dog, you can give it a treat and produce a click" sound. Eventually, you can stop giving your dog a treat and just produce the click sound. In this way your dog will understand that once you have click, he has done something right.

So why is canine click training so effective?

One of the reasons is that you'll eventually obtain the desired behavior from the dog naturally and gradually.

You can also instantly click to show your dog it has done something right. Thus, you'll also be able to gain more command and respect from your dog.

Thirdly, you can exactly pin point a desired behavior. If you would to use words to train, dogs would generally be slower to learn or possibly be confused. But when you click, you clearly mark upon whether your dog is doing the right thing or obeying the right command.

One of the reasons for the emergence of canine clicker training is because the traditional training methods are less effective compared to reward based training. Dogs are animals which instinct is to react to more of a reward as oppose to a punishment.

As a conclusion, canine clicker training is much preferred as a method of training today because it can train faster, pin-point wanted behavior more accurately, and most of all, create a stronger bond with your dog. This is because every aspects of this training are done in a positive manner.
