What You Will Gain From Adult Cello Lessons

By: Pamelina Siow Home | Arts-and-Entertainment

There are many people who still believe that adults cannot begin learning the cello when they're in their 30's or older. That only the young people can make a success of studying and playing it well. Well, this is totally untrue, and in fact, no matter what your age is, as long as you can hold and support the cello properly, you can play it. There are a lot of benefits to be had in learning the cello.

Many people are of the opinion that the best reason to take up cello playing is the happiness it can give you. That's it. Playing musical instruments bring joy and happiness to both player and listeners. It doesn't matter if you're alone or in the company of friends and family, because you will still have fun. It is the best therapy for depressed people or those who are always alone. Playing a musical instrument can really uplift your spirits and make you forget your troubles.

Learning the cello is also a way to build up your character. This develops quicker in a classroom setting, but even one-on-one lessons will do this for you. A classroom setting will allow you to make new friends and improve your socializing skills. And similar to what happens in other music lessons, you will learn to be disciplined. You cannot master the cello without patience and dedication to what you're doing. These traits are very important in the outside world, because you can apply it to your jobs, your family, etc.

There is wide variety of music sheets you can play with. You will find many modern and classical cello pieces that you will have fun playing. Do not think that your playing will be limited to classical pieces like Pachelbel's Canon. The modern songs have their own cello versions that are similar to the original. A few believe that playing the cello will be boring because of the limited number of fun songs you can play, but in truth, a little online search will provide you a wide range of music to choose from.

And who says you can't brag about your musical talent? Even as an adult, you can still brag and enjoy the envious looks on people's faces. Sure, there are so many people who can play the guitar and piano. Cello, meanwhile, are considered difficult to learn so there are only very few who know how to play it. So if you go out with your friends and they see you playing, I'm sure they're going to admire you. They won't take into consideration that you studied adult cello lessons late in life.

These are only a few reasons why you should sign up for adult cello lessons. I hope you won't be pressured by others to simply learn a familiar instrument like guitar. The guitar has its own advantages but since it has become so common, everybody already is playing it. For me, I'd rather that a person be unique in his ways, than copy others and just go with the flow. Ultimately, it will still be up to you what musical instrument you want to learn.
