You need to accept the fact that the lender is going to consider you to be a greater credit risk if he approves your loan, and therefore the interest rate you will pay will be higher. There may also be stiffer penalties for late payments to encourage you to make your monthly payments on time every month. Whether you have bad credit or not, if you are looking to get a secured loan, there should not be a problem with what type of credit you have, since the lender has something that he can take ownership of, in the case where you default on the loan. Sometimes property of your house may be the security or collateral to back up your promise to make payments. Most people prefer an unsecured loan, where the lender has nothing they can take ownership of if you default on the loan, and this is the type of personal loan where your credit history comes into play. Your local bank may not be interested in offering you a bad credit personal loan, but they can be found. There are actually companies that specialize in providing this type of loan, where they understand that sometimes people need a bit of extra money for an unexpected large expense, or perhaps just to take a great vacation with your spouse after finishing a particularly grueling assignment. You can find a bad credit personal loan but you are going to have to look beyond the traditional sources in order to find the right loan for your circumstances.
