Why A Warranty Is Important

By: Tom Sanderrs Home | Shopping-and-Products

Why would you bother with a warranty? Simply put it is your ticket to peace of mind when you buy products. No matter how good the company is, products can break down after a certain period of time. Sometimes defects in workmanship are not apparent until you have used the product for a little while. When you buy lighting fixtures that have extended warranties you safeguard yourself against any problems further down the road.

It is a sign of a reliable business when they offer not just a one year, but two year warranties. If you find a one that offers a three year warranty on its products this is indeed an exceptional company. This shows you that the company stands behind its products. A company that decides its goods should have a three year warranty, obviously has confidence in its products and feels that they will last longer than three years.

What should a really good quality warranty have?

* An long guarantee period of two or three years: warranties on a product should cover two or three years, especially very expensive goods. Organizations that offer these sort of long term warranties show that they have real confidence in their products.

* Cover normal wear and tear: All good warranties will specifically state that they cover normal wear and tear. This means that they will honor the warranty on their product providing the item has been subject to normal usage.

* Specifically state whether it is manufacturer or store: There are two types of warranty; store and manufacturer. If it is a store one you can go direct to the store and have the warranty taken care of. If it is a manufacturer one the store will instruct you how to send the item back to the manufacturer.

* It should be in writing: You should always have a written warranty if you purchase a product. This protects you as an oral agreement will not be remembered.

The product must conform to certain standards when you buy it for the warranty to be valid. You should read these warranties carefully to be sure there are no loopholes. This is because they span a long time frame, one to three years, and you do not want to take your product back to the store after a year and find that due to some loophole the warranty is invalid.

You should ask the seller about the warranty if you purchase a product. You never know what will happen in the future and it is good to be prepared. Good lighting fixtures do not come cheap and you will want to safeguard your investment by getting the best warranty on the product you purchase. With these points in mind you will be able to choose a company that offers an excellent warranty on the product you want and really have peace of mind when you purchase from them.
