As parents, we all wonder at times what is the best way to motivate our children. We should not always be praising them all of the time and it is not a good idea to punish them at all during the times when we are trying to get them more motivated . This would actually be counter-protective to the process. Motivation is really an important part of your child’s inner being and betterment and it is up to the parents to see that this is accomplished. When your child does something that is pleasing, it is very important to communicate with them and admire them for it. Let them know that you appreciate it and show your gratitude to them. Take the time to tell them why you think they have done a good job and express your feelings about their work. Another thing that you need to do while trying to motivate your child is to not treat them like a little kid. Treat them the same as you would treat your neighbor or coworker. Do not try to reward them with silly things such as stars or stickers for doing household chores. Praise them in an adult manner for what they have done. If they have cleaned up the garage for you, tell them what a great job they have done whenever you pass by because children are very sensitive and they will be able to tell whether you are being sincere or not and this is the best way to get a response from them.
