Why You Should Use A Chafing Dish

By: Clint Jhonson Home | Food-and-Drink | Cooking

If you want to have a grand appearance at the dinner table, use a chafing dish. Whether a chafer dish sits by itself or it is surrounded by others, nobody can resist the temptation of rolling back the lid to see what is there inside. If you have bought one of them for your restaurant then you know that very soon you will be buying more to add to the battalion.

Chafer dishes are most commonly used at buffets and parties due to its distinct ability to keep the food nice and warm as well as presentable at the same time. As the years have gone by, the chafing dish has come a long way with different improvements and innovations. Basically the chafer dish is made up of a basin which is filled with water to be heated by an electrically heated component or a portable flame. The objective is to keep the water hot so that the food stays warm.

If you are contemplating on buying a chafing dish, try to decide which type you are looking for. You have the chap type and the expensive kind as well as those which lie somewhere in the middle. The cheap ones are light and are made of cheap materials while the mid-range ones are a little heavier. The more expensive kind of chafer dishes are heavy and designed with silver plate. If you think you will be using your chafers often, then you might as well opt for these as they will be comparatively longer lasting not to mention good looking.

Before you choose or buy a chafer dish, decide on whether you would want the lid to be the roll top kind or the lift top kind. The roll top lid increases your access to the food as the cover disappears completely out of view. Lift tops, on the other hand are just lids used to cover the chafing dish. You can choose from all kinds of shapes when you buy a chafing dish; there are circular chafing dishes, rectangular chafing dishes as well as oval chafing dishes. Check out the design and the shape so that it matches well with your existing dinner ware.

If you have a restaurant and have a buffet line then the chafing dish is a real must! You must have as many a chafer as the number of dishes so that you can keep them nice and warm when your customers come for their meal. Most chafing dishes are sleek and come in a polished stainless steel exterior making them very attractive to look at and very easy to clean.

Setting up a good buffet line no matter if it is dinner or breakfast, requires good chafer dishes in various sizes so as to fit all your menu items. Many a chafing dish comes with extra pans which you can buy so that the extra food is ready for replacing the empty pans when you need it quickly. They are all sleek and chic and make for a beautiful display.
