William Woods University: Small University With Global Features

William Woods University is located in Fulton, Missouri in United States and serves a community of around 12,000 people. A coeducational, independent and job oriented institution that houses over 3,800 students, the institute has assumed an international character. Religious connection of the university is by covenant with the Christian Church.

Location

Scenic 180 acres campus of the university is located around 160 Kilometers to the west of St. Louis and around 240 Kilometers east of Kansas City. Nearest places of interest to the campus is Jefferson City in Columbia as well as Lake of the Ozarks.

Global features of the university have developed since it houses not only students from most of the state in United States but also from nearly 20 foreign countries. Offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees, the university offers education in campus and in outreach settings as well.

Establishment and Accreditation

Founded in 1870, the university had a pronounced mission of developing quality education and individual attributes in trainees. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, the university is also a member of the North Central Association.

Unique Programs

In its bid for providing quality education different from the traditional streams, the university offers certain unique programs. Important among them are â€

Program on internationally recognized equestrian studies.
Four year program on interpretation of American Sign Language.
First juvenile justice degree in the state of Missouri.
Criminal Justice degree.
Emphasis on homeland security courses.
Programs designed for working adults can be completed in less than two years.
Undergraduate and Graduate Level Programs

Undergraduate level programs follow the traditional pattern of education but graduate programs offered come with a difference. Graduate level programs in the University are offered through the GPS program or Graduate and Professional Studies program. Some of the main degree programs offered are as follows:

Graduate degree program.
Degree completion program.
Undergraduate programs in select sites like Fulton, Missouri, Blue Springs, Jefferson City, Branson and Columbia; all as temporary sites in Missouri and Arkansas.
GPS programs follow the cohort model providing opportunities for working adults.
Educational programs also have an accelerated format.
Games and Sports
Athletics teams of the university are known as Owls and participate in American Midwest Conference.

Financial Aids

Regular aids offered by federal and state government, institutional finance, local assistance, and university sponsored financial aids are available for the students.
