Women And Cigars

By: Tyler Powers Home | Travel-and-Leisure

Women make up a very small percentage of the numerous cigar smokers in today's society. In fact, it is only 1% of cigar smokers who are female. However, it is becoming more and more common to walk down the street and see women smoking a cigar. Why on earth are they doing that, you ask? Well, it is the same for women as it is for men. Cigars are something that is meant to be savored and enjoyed. Why should men be the only ones who enjoy it?

A person could compare a cigar to a fine wine or gourmet food. These are all things that are enjoyed slowly and savored by the smoker. It takes a person's focus from the demands and frustrations of their daily lives. It is how people relax and look upon the day's events. It is soothing and calming to the nerves.

Most women who smoke cigars prefer to have the mild tasting ones. Many people assume that smaller cigars are the milder ones. However, it is actually the big fat ones that have a milder taste to them. Fat cigars burn slow and gentle. The smaller ones are packed fuller and are stronger in taste. They also tend to burn hotter and faster.

When you decide that you want to try your first cigar, it is very important that you learn precisely how to cut it. The closed end is called the cap, and it is necessary to remove enough of this cap to allow air to flow through the cigar. Otherwise, it will not burn and your efforts will be futile. Cutting too much of the cap is also hazardous. In order to be able to enjoy the cigar properly, you must cut roughly ¾ of the cap without cutting into the inside of the cigar itself. Each cigar's cap is different, but once you gain experience, you will do just fine.

A hole in a cigar is necessary to smoke it properly. This is indeed, the only thing that all cigar smokers agree upon. It may be best for you to follow the instructions of a serious cigar smoker and then change it to suit your own needs. This really and truly depends upon each individual smoker.

Now you are ready to light up and enjoy. You must remember to always be patient. If your cigar ends up burning too fast, you miss out on the pleasure of enjoying it. According to experts, a ceder spill is the best method of lighting a cigar. Do not light it like a cigarette. Butane lighters are the best choice of lighters for cigars. This is due to the fact that a cigar holds the flavor of whatever flame source lights it. If you use matches, you must be certain to allow the chemicals from the heads to burn off completely before you light your cigar. For cigar experts, the preferred method of lighting a cigar is to use a cedar spill. This is a long thin piece of Spanish cedar which is common with connoisseurs. Now it's time to puff on that cigar once you get this down. Enjoy the luxury of a good cigar.
