Today industrialisation is taking place at a fast pace all over the world and with the advent of technology it has improved a lot. The merger of both these aspects has led to the formation of new ideas and this in turn has helped the industries grow at a faster pace and the infrastructure required to set up these industries does not take the time that it used to take earlier. The industries have now started producing different types of metal and one such type that is used in our day to life is the sheet metal. The sheet metal is made from metal and is flat in shape and its thickness varies from 0.015 cm to 6.32cm. The metal with this thickness falls into the category of metal sheets and if the metals are very thin pieces then it is considered to be a foil or a leaf piece. The metals which are thicker than the sheets are called the plates. There are different types of process and tools for the metal sheets that is used to change the shape and size of the metal sheets. The metal sheet can be stretched and straightened by gripping all the sides of the sheet and stretching it. The metal sheet tools and machinery that is used to stretch it and pull it beyond its elastic limit helps the sheet to come out in a flat shape. As a result of stretching the, temper of the sheet is slightly raised. After the stretching of the sheet is done it is then sent for stamping. The process of stamping includes more than one station for stamping where the sheet has to undergo different actions and then the final work piece is created. When the metal sheet is passed through different work stations, the shape of the sheet is altered at each station by cutting and forming and drawing of the metal sheet piece. Thus in the end each of the metal station contributes in the making of the final piece. The metal sheets are cut in many different ways and it can be cut manually by using the tin snips and it can also be cut by laser cutting with the aid of the computer. The tin snips are extremely technical and tricky and at times also frustrating when the metal sheets are curved. However, when the metal sheets are laser cut with the aid of the computer it results in the end product being more accurate and also reduces the amount of waste to a great extent. The metal sheet is then bended to give it the desired shape and finally the sheet is sheared to get the size that is needed. The metal sheets are available in different types like the brass sheets, copper sheets, aluminium sheet and stainless sheet.
