That’s the style get away from it all, take a break from the cities and urban areas of this great nation, Visit Britain, visit some of her true gems her green and pastured lands, there are so many counties to choose from, we would like you to think about one in particular Norfolk, or to be more precise North Norfolk, a real gem, often thought of as the flat county, where in truth that title really belongs to Lincolnshire! If you think Norfolk is flat try using one of our mountain bikes and follow route 30 †a national trial that stretches across the county from the northern coast out to Great Yarmouth in the East. Pick a section right from the doorstep, leave the car keys behind and set off for some beautiful cycling among the quiet lanes, this really is a great way to see the county as you never saw it before. The trail passes many fabulous landmarks, for example, the Barn at Paston is a very valuable nature reserve and a beautiful place to discover, next door the church is peaceful yet inspiring, sit a while in the graveyard listen to the birdsong enjoy a picnic before continuing onward to the seaside town of Mundesley, passing the windmill at the top of the hill before you descend into the town, again another lovely spot to sit a while. The joy of a self catering holiday is that you make the choices to do as much or little as you like, the Beach House, offers the facilities to do either, don’t fancy the bikes try the beach, take the stunt kite down if a breeze is blowing? It’s a great way to immerse you in nature and do battle with the elements, a lot harder than you think. Not the bikes and kites? Plan a pub walking tour, down the beach to Happisburgh up and over the cliffs and into the â€Hill House’, a connection to Sherlock Holmes awaits, as does some rather nice grub and a pint, plus a bit of banter with the friendly locals and your walk has a very happy interlude. On you must go and a route back across countryside or the cliff top will get you to the â€Lighthouse’ on the outskirts of Walcott another well deserved rest before heading back to base or if you don’t fancy the cooking tonight head into the village and a nice Fish Supper in the warmth of the local chippy while you watch the world go by. Then it’s off back to base camp the joy of a self-catering holiday can we tempt you from the city?
