When it comes to statistics a couple has a much higher chance of having a boy than they are a girl. However, by learning about when is the best time to conceive a boy can further increase these chances for them. As couples will soon discover there are various techniques that they can use which will increase their chances further of having a boy instead of a girl. In this article we take a quick look at two such techniques which have proven popular with couples before when trying to have a boy rather than a girl and although they both show particular times when it is best to conceive a boy you will see that the differ somewhat. Method 1 - Shettles Method Through using this technique a couple is attempting to ensure that the sperm containing Y chromosomes is able to reach the egg before the sperm containing X chromosomes. Generally the sperm that contains Y chromosomes moves more quickly than that which contains the X chromosomes and this is something that couples will need to factor into the lovemaking if they are attempting to conceive a baby boy rather than a baby girl. The book "How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby: The Method Best Supported by Scientific Evidence" written by Dr Shettles recommends that couples have intercourse during the 24 hours when a woman has begun to ovulate and that no intercourse should take place 12 hours after her ovulation period has finished. As well as giving such specific time periods for when couples should have intercourse in if they want conceive a boy is to ensure that the man penetrates the woman as deeply as possible. This way the more aggressive sperm containing the Y chromosomes is closer to the cervix and means that they get a head start in the fertilization of the egg. Method 2 - The Whelan Method Dr Whelan devised this technique as a rebuttal to the technique purported by Dr Shettles. In hers, Dr Whelan feels that if a couple would like to increase their chances of having a boy rather than a girl intercourse should take place as early as possible during a woman's monthly cycle. Certainly research shows that around 68% of the time all couples using this technique did in fact conceive a baby boy. When it does come to finding out about when is the best time to conceive a boy there are different opinions and techniques that couples will hear about. Although not all these do help couples to achieve what they want some have. For some couples when the made changes to their diet which meant the eating more red meat and salty snacks this helped. Whilst for some other couples they tried the technique where before having intercourse the man drank coffee and this helped them to conceive a boy rather than a girl.
