Writing some words on a piece of paper is one of the easiest things that anyone will ever do. However, arranging those words so that they are not only intelligible, but worth something to posterity is entirely different. You need to know how to write an essay and make it stand out because your instructor will read a bevy that don’t because they’re the usual fare. You can make yours special, and noticeable, by adding some memorable notes to the end of the essay. When you wonder, â€I’m not sure how to write my essay,†remember, a great conclusion is not written as a tag line to the rest; it is researched, well thought out and includes certain elements that will not only make your essay stand out, but will also show the teacher that you truly know how to write a superior conclusion. Restate the Thesis This is something that all writing instructors will tell you and it is imperative for concluding an essay writing assignment with a sense of completeness. The thesis is the central statement of your essay and the audience needs to be reminded of it, especially after reading a long paper, so they can see that you followed your original premise. Remember though, this should be a restatement. You should not copy the thesis that you wrote in the introduction. Short Summary The conclusion should draw everything together. Therefore, it may be necessary to make some general statements that will remind people of the main points and some of the main arguments for those points. The thesis restatement is one sentence and this summary should only be two or three sentences itself. Since most essays will only include about three supporting paragraphs. Answer Questions In most essays there will not be enough time to get to the all possible aspects of a topic. Therefore, you need to tie up any loose ends that may have been left in the topic. The best way to accomplish this is to introduce the question and then answer it or you can introduce topics for future research. However you do this, it makes people think about what you wrote and how they can continue researching this topic if they wish. What not to do The essay writing was not trivial so you should try and not trivialize it by giving the reader any apologies. The essay should stand on its own with clear research and measured opinions. The summary should be short. Not only should you not copy the thesis, you should also not copy the body of the essay. Keep the process simple so that the reader can get through it in a small amount of time, but get the full concept. Most instructors do not like you to write words like â€In conclusion.†They know that the last few paragraphs are the conclusion, so no need to mention this.
