Creating a manualized cognitive restructuring program that successfully helps people overcome faulty thinking and self-defeating behaviors is an art that few have mastered. Is it even possible to go into someone's subconscious mind and actually change thoughts? YES! The secret can be found in a book by Dr. David Hawken on truth vs. falsehoods. The truth has a power that can penetrate the veil of self-imposed falsehoods and aid people in discovering their true selves. That is, help them see that they are much better than they believe they are. Creating a cognitive restructuring curriculum entails possessing a profound understanding of truth, otherwise the written words will not penetrate the mind. In effect untrue words drop off the page and onto the ground. There they curl up and die and are forgotten along with millions of other untrue words. True words lift people to higher whereas untrue words discourage. True words contain a force that excites energies that resonate at a frequency that people accept. It's this energy that can change flawed thinking. After helping victims of domestic hostility it is enlightening to sit in the sessions and watch this self-actualization process change lives. Nearly all abused women believe that they have very little worth, when in all actuality they have great worth. By the 3rd or 4th session of applying true words delivered through a correctly structured cognitive restructuring program, the truth starts to have its affect. This reprogramming is shown in their physical, mental and emotional exhilaration. The changes for most are significant and permanent. However don't forget that cognitive restructuring counseling only encourages change, it doesn't force it. Change is the responsibility of the client. The main reason counseling programs are unsuccessful is because they arent structured correctly and they have little life-changing truth. The reason is that the individual(s) who produced it lacked truth. People may attend psychotherapy sessions for years and not change due to the fact that the therapist isn't aligned with truth. The truth can have a life-changing impact on people in only a matter of hours, however, it must be available. NOTE: Use of this article requires links to be intact.
