You Can't Stop Change So Why Not Make The Best Of It!

By: Darren Hodgson Home |

Change is inevitable. You can't get away from it no matter how hard you try, it's an integral part of life. The challenge when faced with change is whether or not it will be a positive one or or negative one.

Change can be split into two parts, things you can and things you can't do anything about. You have no power over what the weather will do. It either rains or it doesn't and there's nothing you can do about it, it's out of your control so don't let it bother you. I'm sure you've heard the saying 'don't sweat the small stuff', well all stuff out of your control like the weather is small stuff.

However your job is something you can change, if you don't like it go out and find another one. If your having trouble doing this, take a step back for a minute and think about it. Have you really tried everything? I mean everything. Have you really applied for hundreds and thousands of jobs or just 10 to 15. Then go back to your job hunting with this new perspective.

When Thomas Eddison was asked what it felt like to fail to invent the light bulb after 2000 attempts he simply said 'I've not failed, I've found 2000 ways not to make a light bulb work'. This is the type of attitude you need when facing change.

What most people don't realize is that the majority of people in this world only reach about 15% of their potential and that's on the top side. If we could tap into the extra 85% we would literally astound ourselves. Even an extra 1% increase in the potential we use can create astounding results in our life and the lives of those around us.

Knowing now that things are going to change what are you going to do about it? If you're like most people you'll just go with the flow accepting mediocrity at best. You'll get on the boat and ride all of the highs and lows that are thrown at you thinking there's nothing you can do about them. Leaving your dreams at the shore never to be fulfilled.

It doesn't have to be that way and I don't think you're like most people, if you were you wouldn't be reading this and trying to better yourself.

Change will happen, I think you've got this bit by now but in many cases progress does not. It's up to you and you alone to take the change and mould it into to progress. Mould it into your dreams and desires to create the future you want instead of the future that's given to you.

What do you really want to be a part of? Your dream or someone else's. If you work for a company, any company except your own, whose dreams are you fulfilling? Yours or theirs. Whose pockets are you putting money into? Yours or theirs.

I'm not saying go out and start your own business and everything will be fine and dandy. What I am saying is reawaken your dreams and follow them. If this means working for someone else, great. If it means starting your own business then that's great too.

The most important thing about change is that you accept it is going to happen and you embrace it with everything you have. Use everything at your disposal to make the result of any change the one you desire.
