You Need To Know These Facts About Heart Attacks

By: Roberto Bell Home | Health-and-Fitness | Aerobics-Cardio

Knowing the warning signs of a heart attack can be life saving. It is important to realize that not all heart attacks come on suddenly and occur with a great deal of pain. These are often the heart attacks that are depicted in Hollywood, and when they do occur, the patient is quick to identify the condition. The sufferer knows to call 911 immediately and wait for help to arrive. However, there are other heart attacks that occur in a quieter fashion. These are just as serious as sudden heart attacks, however they might be left untreated until it becomes too late. When suffering from a silent heart attack, even five minutes is too late to wait before calling for help.

Any time you feel chest discomfort, such as pressure, squeezing, or pain in the chest area you should see your health care provider. Though you might mistake this for heartburn or gas, it could be a silent heart attack and it is best to be seen. Other signs include feeling pain in the shoulders, arms, neck, or back along with shortness of breath. It is important to realize that you can have chest pain or discomfort without shortness of breath and still be suffering from a heart attack. Additional heart attack signs and symptoms include feeling dizzy or lightheaded, vomiting or feeling nauseous, and having clammy skin or cold sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms contact your health care provider and call 911 right away. It is always better to be safe than sorry, and by calling 911, you can rest assured that you will receive treatment immediately.
