You Should Start Using Social Networking Sites

By: MIKE SELVON Home | Internet-and-Business

There are two big names that stand out from amongst the crowd when it comes to social networking sites. These two sites are MySpace and Facebook. Each allows you to find friends, share stories and upload pictures or personal information.

It has become the number one way to socially connect with people all across the globe. It is true that they are both very similar to each other but there are also some differences that you need to take into consideration when choosing one over the other.

The whole idea behind social networking sites is to allow people to interact with each other. MySpace and Facebook allow their members to network with the other millions of users on their webpages.

The only requirements are that you be at least thirteen years of age and have a valid email address. Once you have completed your Facebook login or your MySpace login you are ready to connect with millions of people.

There are differences in MySpace and Facebook. The first is in the number of users that use these two sites. MySpace can boast over seventy-three million users. Facebook can only claim thirty-six million users. This has many business experts worried that advertising services used on Facebook will decline and not bring in enough revenue to support the site in the future.

Daily advertising banners are the backbone of how Facebook and MySpace are supported. There has been merger news about Facebook and MySpace but as of yet nothing has come to fruition.

Your profile is a big dividing point between MySpace and Facebook. MySpace allows you to customize your profile through the use of HTML and CSS coding.

Facebook has only a text based system so you miss out on being able to use some of the graphics and additions to customize your webpage. The ability to customize your layout is a huge plus MySpace has going on for them.

One of the similarities, besides being able to search Facebook and MySpace for friends, is that you can add graphics to your page if you have the right codes. There are many websites on the internet that will give you the right code for certain graphics and images.

Another similarity is that you can post whatever you want. You can share stories, pictures and any writings that you wish.

Social networking sites are no longer just for teenagers and college students. Many adults are turning to Facebook and MySpace as a way to find friends from their past. Some are even finding love online.

They are able to reach out and connect with new minds and share new ideas. It is a great place for them to put their feelings into words and let the whole world know who they are and what they are all about.
