Your Happiness Triggers

By: Fred Nicklaus Home | Self-Improvement

I have to share this with you. I was walking with a friend and as we were going along our merry way we came upon a friend of my friend's. My friend said hello and said, "out for some exercise" to which the other man replied, " no, going out for some cigarettes." It just struck me as funny. Thought I'd pass it on to you. One guy is out to enjoy the nice weather and get healthy while the other has a different idea. Just goes to show how different we all are. Even though we are all different, we can still learn to utilize those things that make us happy.

I'd like to introduce to you my little buddy Sydney. Sydney is our family dog and she's about the friendliest, happiest little thing that you could ever meet. Sydney is a combination pug/beagle mix. Check out the picture. What a character she is. Why do I tell you about Sydney when we're talking about Happiness Triggers. It's because Syd is one of my happiness triggers. A Happiness Trigger is anything that a person can think about or be around that automatically puts them in a happy, joyous state. Here's why Sydney is a Happiness Trigger for me.

She is always wagging her tail and smiling whenever she sees me. Often times I take her out for walks around the neighborhood and it's nice to walk with her. Dogs in general are cool because they don't have any ulterior motives for hanging around with you and they never fake their emotions. We could all take a lesson from them. Sydney is my daughter Sammie's little buddy. Sammie takes Syd up to bed every night and they both sleep under the covers of her heated blanket. Syd loves that blanket. What an inspiration.

You might ask why I'm telling you about my dog. It's really quite simple. We should all search our worlds to come up with the things that can immediately put us in a great state of mind. All of us have things or experiences that can do that for us. It's important that we know how to call upon these experiences and the good feelings that accompany them at any time to put us into a state of happiness and allow us to attract other good things into our lives. The simple act of putting yourself in this state will go a long way to helping you be the person and live the life that you are destined for.

Think happy and smile lots,

Fred Nicklaus
