Your House Should Be Stylish As Well As Functional

By: Mandy Chagger Home | Home-and-Family

There are many things involved in a house design. Your house should be stylish as well as functional. The exterior and interior are both important when you're designing a house. You'll need to figure out how big you want your house and the size of each room. Keep in mind how much budget you have for your home. You can hire an architect to help you plan and personalize a particular design, or buy a stock plan or pre-drawn building plan. A stock plan will not give you every detail that you want for your home, but you can make changes. You can also research house design plans on the Internet. There are options available when you order home plans. A reproducible set is a complete set of home plans made on an erasable paper, so you can make structural changes to the design of your house. This type of set has a copyright release, so everything will be legal if you make copies of the formally copyrighted home plan. A CAD file is a complete set of home plans in an electronic file format, which makes it a convenient way to make structural changes to your home plans. This type of home plan also includes a copyright release. You can't build more than one home from this plan unless you have a multi-use construction license.

Purchase your land before you choose a design plan if you're building a new home. The size and kind of lot can influence the type of house or design plan you choose. The plan should fit the size of your land. It should also match the kind of landscape. Notice everything about the land, such as the kind of soil, location of trees or shrubs, or evidence of any erosion. The way the sun shines and the wind blows can influence where you put your doors and windows. A floor plan should be chosen next. Floor plans show the measurements for the length of things. They can be attuned to fit almost any house design or style you choose. They can also be modified if you want to expand the house. Three-dimensional drawings may help you better envision the layout for a floor plan. A floor plan should be created to take everything about the house design into consideration. This includes the feel and style of the home.

An important part of your design plan is drawing material and product specifications. This will ensure that the plan outline and dimensions will be based on the instalments during construction or building. Try to keep in mind the kind of lifestyle you live when making plans to design your home. The smallest details can be important for making your home into an environment that will be perfect for how you and your family live. What kind of atmosphere do you want? Think about the features that would be beneficial. If guests frequently stay overnight at your home, then you could have a guestroom built. You may want more then one bathroom, depending on the size of your family. A home office is a good idea if you work at home. Does your family like to get together and relax? Then you might want a family room. Do you need extra space for storage? A basement, walk-up attics, walk-in pantries, and large bedroom closets can add more storage space to your home.

A house design should also fit in with the style of the neighbourhood. You don't want your home to be an exact duplicate of others, but it would look odd to have a house that's a completely different style from all your neighbours. Your home will also stand out if it's extremely large or too small as compared to the other homes around it. Check out pictures of homes in magazines, books, and on the Internet to see which homes appeal to you. Some house plan styles are Traditional, Country, Cottage, Southern, European, Spanish, Coastal, and Mediterranean. There are some house design trends you may want to consider. Earth friendly house designs or green home building are very popular. Materials used for this type of home are natural and sustainable. Cork, natural linoleum, and bamboo are some green flooring ideas. Flex spaces is a lifestyle and design trend that is beneficial if you have kids. With flex space, you can change the rooms, as your kids get older. Rooms can go from playrooms to study rooms. When the kids move out, the same rooms can be used for spare bedrooms. A trend for aging boomers is to add design features, so they can stay in their homes, as they get older. A lot of windows that give natural light, walk-in shower stalls, and cabinets that can be opened easily are being added to homes.
