Site Updates - We're gaining speed and users!

I've been fairly busy so I haven't had time to add to the blog lately. I've been going back and rewriting parts of the site, along with database tweaks, and many parts of the site are hundreds of times faster now as a result.

The thing is, as we grew bigger, we put a harder strain on any system we're on, so it was time to try to make the site more efficient. We're taking on quite a few more users at the same time, and most of the time pages load in the blink of an eye.

I'll try to keep this more up-to-date as I can. I'm usually working invisibly behind the scenes working to make the system faster and faster.

Hopefully I can say in the next post that we've broken 200,000 articles with some luck.

New articles coming in at breakneck speed

Just wanted to keep everyone updated. Articles are pouring in. I am hard at work approving hundreds of articles at a time. That's just so if it's taking a little longer than normal with article approvals it's just that there are that many to wade through. I already did 200 quickly so far tonight before taking a minute to write this blog entry.

On the plus side, google now has over 60,000 pages from the site listed in the google search engine results(SERPs) which is absolutely great. Yahoo is running hard now trying to catch up. They can take awhile to start pulling in new listings, but they have in the neighborhood of 1,200 or so pages in so far. It's going up around 200 or so per day right now. A good html sitemap goes a long way with yahoo, just a free tip there.

Time to get back to the articles now that everyone is updated. Keep on sending them, I'm loving it :)

Writing Goddess: The Benefits of Writing Articles

Writing Goddess: The Benefits of Writing Articles

Another great writeup I found on a blog that outlines the reasons why writing articles is such a great idea. Don't forget to also put your articles on http://www.earticlesonline.com.

The 3,000 articles threshhold crossed!

Just a few mins ago we crossed 3,000 articles on eArticlesOnline.com . That's one heck of a lot of information just waiting to be shared. I'll keep this blog entry brief as I still have a lot of articles to approve.

Things are accelerating great on the website

The website is getting more attention(great considering the holiday season most people aren't on computers), and we are nearing 3,000 articles on the website. Chances are we will smash the barrier tonight. As usual I am working on getting more attention to the website from other websites and search engines to get all of your articles the coverage they deserve. Google is being good about getting the new pages into their indexes pretty quickly also.

Site design finalized

I think the site is in a good state right now. Easy to navigate/use, looks nice. All to try to give all users a more enjoyable experience. There are a couple AdSense ads(who doesn't anymore) but I have tried to make it blend it to the site design.

We are getting lots of posts, and I'm hoping to attract even more authors/ezine-website owners. The more the merrier :)

Wow, what an update I have today

I just checked the Alexa ranking(take it with a grain of salt) and the ranking of eArticlesOnline for today is 32,487 . A few other sites have not gained, so this means that I am doing something right :) The reach is still the same, but the average pages read per person has radically jumped. There are in fact many great articles, like a new one submitted about Google's Jagger update.

The above makes me feel great as the webmaster/owner, and it's great for article writers as having their article here means they get excellent exposure.

Look & Feel of the Website

I have been trying out new looks to the website. That is to say, I am still customizing it here and there. I have made it default to 100% width of the user's page which makes it easier to read articles and such.

I replaced the built-in search that used to be towards the top of the screen with the google search method so you can search both google and the website. One big advantage of this is you can easily search and see if google has indexed your article yet.

I still have a few changes I want to do to make the website look nicer and easier to use. I am keeping in mind one google methodology of "keep it simple" and not cluttering up the website with a bunch of junk.
